Prinja, a student of the Kothrud-based P Jog Junior College, also secured 53rd rank in the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE).
Speaking to TOI, Prinja said, "My focus was on personal study which was supported by coaching class. I am interested in either Computer Science or Electrical discipline. I'm keen on pursuing further education and may go for Doctorate as well." Ashish Bora, a student of Modern College, Shivajinagar, secured 58th rank in the examination.
He said, "I want to start my own business after the completion of the professional course. I am not very keen on pursuing any job, where I will have to work in a company. My parents are from Sangamner in Ahmednagar district, who want me to be an Engineer. I received training from IIT Prashikshan Kendra."
Ashish’s parents are Pediatrics and have their own practice in Sangamner. Around 40,000 students appeared for the examination from the Pune centre, which was higher by 5,000 compared to previous year's number. With more students testing their skills through AIEEE, the number of centers for students was increased to 73 this year, said Jayshree Venkatraman, city Coordinator for conducting the exam.
The AIEEE is rated as the biggest Entrance examination as 10, 53,832 students across the country appeared for the examination.
Unlike other Entrance exams, AIEEE offers ranks to every student appearing for the examination. Those who secure more than 30 per cent of the 350 marks in the examination, have chance to get admission to 21 National Institute of Technology located in various cities or 50 Autonomous Colleges identified by the Union Government. These students can also get admission to some State level Engineering Colleges which have 15 per cent quota for AIEEE. The students will pursue courses like Bachelor of Technology, Architect and Planning, among others.
