10,000 staff to be hired by Panasonic in India by 2012 :

Japan's consumer electronics major Panasonic plans to double its headcount in India to 20,000 in next two years with the commissioning of its new manufacturing facility at Jhajjar in Haryana.

For the year ended on March 31, 2010, Panasonic India had a turnover of 4,500 crores (45 billion) including the sales generated. The Indian arm's sale was nearly 2-3 percent of Panasonic's total overseas sales. Out of the Japanese firm's overall turnover, overseas sales accounts to 50 percent and the rest comes from the domestic sales.

The company is aiming to increase turnover from the country and expects to contribute about 5 percent of Panasonic's total overseas sales by 2012. The company, which reported 200 percent growth in the past three years in India, is looking to continue with the trend for the next two more years. Panasonic India CEO Mr. Daizo Ito says that India is the most important market for growth of Panasonic.
