K-PGET: Students shortlisted

As many as 8,225 or 72.74 per cent of the 11,307 candidates, who wrote the Karnataka-Postgraduate Entrance Test (K-PGET) for admission to medical and dental courses on January 29th, are eligible to pick seats. D Prem Kumar, Registrar of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), said; 6,828 candidates were eligible in the medical stream whereas the figure for the dental branch stood at 1,397. A total of 9,127 candidates had written the medical PGET and 2,180 the dental PGET. Of the 8,211 general candidates who wrote the medical PGET, 6,344 are eligible. Besides, of 916 in service candidates who appeared for the test, 484 have sailed through. In the dental stream, 1,386 of the 2,157 general candidates who took the test are eligible. Besides, 11 in-service candidates have succeeded, out of the 23 who wrote the test, Kumar explained. Boys have secured seven out of the top 10 ranks in the medical faculty, whereas there are six male candidates in the top 10 ranks in the dental faculty. Adarsh K.M., a native of Uttara Kannada district, topped the medical faculty. Aman Sachdev stood first in the dental stream. The RGUHS will conduct the counselling in April. The dates will be announced once the State Government declared the seat matrix, said Kumar.
