The Central Institute of Technology (CIT) in Perth will train CBSE's master trainers for various vocational courses that will be offered in India from 2013-14 academic session. The CIT is registered under the Department of Training and Workforce Development, Government of Western Australia and according to CBSE "brings strength in curriculum design, state of the art delivery and extensive international experience in vocational education and training to individuals and industry alike".
The board says CIT "is a leading provider of vocational education and training and an award winner in 2010 and 2011". Under the MoU, master trainers of CBSE will be trained at CIT's campus in Australia. To start off, four competency base courses will be offered by CBSE in its affiliated schools from Std XI onwards. The four courses are Design Fundamentals, Business Administration, Music Technical Production and Beauty Services. The CBSE plans to pilot the program by offering the said courses in 100 to 150 schools from the academic session 2013-14. Based on the response and influence of the pilot phase, reach of these courses will be expanded across the nation.
