This admission season, colleges will have to be more careful while processing the students' forms. If they make any mistakes with the form, they will be held responsible by the education department.
After it was found last year, that some colleges did not process students forms right, in the workshop conducted by the authorities for the junior colleges principals, they were once again trained in handling students' forms. Once the online form goes to the colleges, they have to admit the child, reject the applications, or click on the not reported option. Last year, many students missed out on the betterment choice because colleges did not process their forms properly. Says a guidance centre in charge from Charni Road that colleges will have to be more responsible this year. "Many students missed out on their betterment because the college had not updated their status. Students coming in the merit list should take admission in the college and then the college should give them one more opportunity for betterment," he said. "We advise students to take only provisional admission if they want betterment so that the transfer between colleges can become easier," he added. "Colleges have been given strict instructions and training on how to handle the forms. Once the child is admitted they should updated his/her status. If we find any mistakes the colleges will have to explain it," he said. The workshop was conducted for two days at Khalsa College, Matunga. Earlier, a review meeting was conducted for guidance centre officials as they were found to be giving wrong information to the students.
