Around 22,880 admission forms for class XI were sold on the first day of distribution of forms at 18 centers on Thursday, 14th June 2012. Of the total forms sold, 11,373 were for science stream, 7,514 for commerce, 1,082 for arts, 2,767 for bifocal and 144 for ATKT. On the very first day, some centres faced shortage of forms due to the heavy demand.
Long queues of students were witnessed at these centres and they had to wait for more than half-an-hour to procure the forms. Official said that the forms could not reach the colleges because of the road closures on Wednesday, 13th June, 2012 due to the Palkhi procession. The forms were distributed on Thursday, 14th June early morning. Hence forth, there will be no shortage of forms at any centre, they added. Distribution of forms will continue till 19th June at all junior colleges in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
After 19th June, the forms will be available till 23rd June at Fergusson College, which is the main coordination centre for the admission process, and at 12 sub-centres. The centralised admission process (CAP) committee has declared an overall student intake of 64,380 for the 159 junior colleges in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad this year. Of these, 19,635 seats are for science stream, while 12,470 are for arts (combined) and 26,480 seats are for commerce (combined).
