The results of Ahmedabad Chapter of Institute of Company Secretaries of India declared on Thursday showed a drastic drop in pass percentage as compared to last year. In both groups of the Executive course, the result dropped to 18. 7 per cent from 41. 98 per cent last year.
Whereas, the pass percentage in Professional (all modules) course fell to a measly 6. 55 from 32. 47 last year. Foundation students saw a slight dip in the pass percentage it was 51. 47 per cent compared to 54. 5 per cent last year. Despite the average results, eight students from Foundation course and five students from Executive course secured All-India ranks between 1-25. No rank has been secured in Professional course. Yet, the number of students who appeared for training rose from 1, 954 last year to 2, 518 in 2011. Jainish Patel who came first in the city list with 438/800 said he benefitted by referring to institute model question papers before exams. Harsh Thakor, who secured the All-India rank 25 with 390/600, is simply delighted. Only conceptual clarity, hardwork and indepth knowledge can help to clear exams. Mugging is not the answer. I never expected a rank but this has encouraged me to get a rank in CS finals too. I recently passed CA exams which helped me do well in CS exams, says Harsh. ICSI chairman (Ahmedabad chapter) Rajesh Parekh says, Change in the paper style has cost our students heavily. The weightage of multiplechoice questions was reduced and subjective questions were given importance in the papers. This requires indepth knowledge and better understanding of the subjects.
