The Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) has asked all engineering, pharmacy, MCA, MBA and other technical colleges to furnish complete details of the number of existing seats, number of new seats granted and courses taught at the colleges for the admission booklet. The ACPC this year is targeting to complete the admission process in professional courses by June-end.
In the past, the admission process in the technical colleges has extended way past July leading to delay in beginning of the academic sessions. Most importantly, a big number of local students with lower per cent take admission in professional colleges outside the state due to uncertainty over getting admission in Gujarat colleges due to delayed admission process. This happens mainly because approval for new colleges or additional seats comes in June. However, this year most of the approvals have already come due to which we are hopeful of starting and ending the admission process by June, said a member of the ACPC. Officials said that “the result of HSC (science) will be declared on May 10 and the mark sheets will be available in the school on May 14”. The colleges have been asked to furnish complete details so that the booklet has all the updated information, number of professional seats available in the numerous branches and the details of the colleges as well. “We are trying our best to complete admissions on time. There are adequate seats available in different professional courses in Gujarat and students stand a good chance at landing admissions in professional courses”, officials said.
