Fate of about 250 students who have to appear for second year final examination under various courses hangs in balance, with the college authorities proposing to withhold their examination form in view of poor attendance. Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Parimal Trivedi said “the requests have been received from various college authorities, claiming that despite having been warned, the students failed to meet required 75 per cent attendance. St Xaviers College Principal Father, Vincent Branganza said that “examination forms of 23 students of arts and science have been withheld due to poor attendance”.
The students had failed to meet the required 50 per cent attendance, he said. Whenever a student takes admission, he is apprised of the minimum required attendance. But when students fail to meet even bare minimum attendance, the college is left with no other option but to apprise the university of their ineligibility, he said. Authorities in LD Arts College too said that “examination forms of 45 students from the college from different undergraduate courses have been withheld”.
