A good 3,380 MBA and 639 MCA seats have remained vacant after the first mock round of the admission process was completed. The second mock round will begin from Tuesday, 16th July, 2012. An official of the admission committee said that the results of the second mock round would be declared on 23rd July. There are total 131 MBA colleges with 11,227 seats and 83 MCA colleges with 5,842 seats in the state.
Last year, when the admission process got over, MBA colleges were left to contend with 6,000 empty seats while MCA colleges had 1,500 empty seats. GTU authorities are apprehensive that this year too a large number of seats will remain vacant in MBA and MCA colleges. The number of vacant seats may be as high as 8,000 odd this year. The major beating will be taken by colleges in Gujarats rural areas which barely find takers, as most students even from villages want to study in city colleges.
