Even as Gujarat University announced the completion of admissions in commerce colleges in the city, 500-odd students have protested that they have not been able to find a place in any college. For their part, GU officials expressed thanks to the monitoring committee which was formally keeping a watch on the admission process.
The committee had found that 4,000 seats were vacant in different colleges. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad leaders said they wanted to agitate to support the students who had complained, but their hands were tied as a BJP leader was the VC currently. NSUI leaders are reported to have struck deals with colleges to give admission to their favored students to avoid trouble. Hence, the 500-odd students find themselves without any leaders to support their cause.
