With the SSC examinations finally coming to an end, one would expect students to be in a mood to holiday. Instead, many are worried about the next immediate hurdle: How to navigate the online admissions to junior college, the details of which are still not clear. A state committee set up to ensure stress-free admissions this year announced that the lengthy process will be reduced by 20 days but school principals and students have expressed concerns.
Schools have not been given dates for the training session for students as well as their parents. One of the biggest problems is ensuring that students attend these sessions because most of them are out of town on holidays, said Rehana Salamat, principal of Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English High School. Hopefully this year it will be less chaotic. Addressing these concerns, Sunil R Chouhan, deputy director of education (school), Mumbai division, said; by next week, schools will be informed about their training programs. Colleges have been asked to register the total number of seats available in their respective institutes for the information booklet. Despite problems in the past, the committee has assured students that the online admission process will run smoothly this year. The process of training students and schools will be covered before April 30, said committee member and principal of Hinduja College, T. A. Shiware, We have requested the state to provide hard copies of mark sheets the day the results are announced so that students would not have to wait two weeks to start applying online.
