Karnataka Examination Authority’s (KEA) decision to extend the date for declaration of admission matrix in the casual vacancy round has put students in a dilemma. According to students, KEAs decision will prove expensive for them. KEA has pushed the dates of declaration of admission matrix to 25th August, which was set as 22nd August earlier. On the other hand, the last date for withdrawal of seats under Comed K has been set as 23rd August, said a parent.
The dilemma for students crops up here. Although we are sure of getting the same college under CET, unless there is a confirmation from the authorities over the seat, it sounds foolish to surrender the seat under Comed K. We have already paid 50,000 for blocking the seat under Comed K, the parent added. However, KEA explains why it has decided to extend the date; this is the last main round for admissions in CET, apart from the extended casual vacancy round at the end of mid-September. We are trying to get as many seats as possible into the pool. For instance, on Friday, we received seven seats in electronics and communication and computer science from students who had taken seats in NIT-K They are huge numbers and make a lot of difference for students, said Reshmi V, executive director, Karnataka Examination Authority.
EXTEND Dates BY 2 DAYS the higher education department is now planning to ask Comed K to extend their dates by two days in public interest. The principal secretary for higher education wrote to Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minorities Professional Colleges Association and Comed K authorities to publish the list of students who have taken seats through them. This is in order to prevent students from hold ing multiple seats and thereby blocking them. Students are al lowed to enter options in this round till 6.00 pm on 22nd August.
