National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology invites application for MA and Ph.D for following areas for academic year 2012:

The urgent need to initiate advanced studies in the areas of History of Art, Conservation, and Museology has been discussed for years and the first step was taken in 1983, when diploma and post graduate diploma courses in History of International and Modern Art and their Sources and Restoration of Oil paintings were initiated in National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. In the year 1985, the programme was shifted to National Museum and its scope was expanded to include teaching of History of Art, covering both Ancient and Modern, Eastern and Western. The programme of Restoration of Oil paintings was also widened to include the restoration of other works of art of organic and inorganic material.

Eligibility:
For MA in History of Art

  • Candidate must have Graduate Degree from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade at the graduate level, students from background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts are prefered

For MA in Conservation
Candidate must have Graduation or Post-graduation Degree with any one of the following subjects:

  • Chemistry / Physics / Geology / Botany / Zoology / Computer Sci. / Fine Arts / History / History of Art / Architecture / Archaeology / Museology / Designing

OR

  • Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduation degree in above fields

For MA in Museology

  • Candidate should have BA / B.Sc (Hons.) or BA / B.Sc / BFA (3 years) in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences or PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum Studies may also apply

For Ph.D

  • A masters degree from a recognized University / Institution of higher learning with high second class (55% marks) in the subject concerned or related subject

Selection Procedure:
Selection of candidate is based on written test score and performance in interview.
