Gujarat State Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has decided to conduct a diagnostic test for school students. The test is part of a survey, which is being held to gauge the conceptual clarity of the subjects taught to the school students. The test will be conducted on February 28th and 29th. According to sources, for the survey, a sample size of 1,000 students from class 3, 5, 7 and 9 each will be selected from every district in the state. These students will be asked questions from what they have learnt in their previous standard. Students of class three and five will be quizzed about their knowledge in English, Gujarati, Maths and Environment.
Students of Class 7 and 9 will answer questions on English, Gujarati, Science and technology and Social studies. The exam will be of 150 marks and students will answer the exam through Optical mark recognition (OMR) method. Sources said; that the scientifically selected questions will be arranged in order of their difficulty quotient. A private agency will analyse the answers of the students. This will help us to know the number of students that could answer the easy questions, the tough ones and both. The agency will also point out where a student is lacking and the reason for it, sources said. The results of the test will be declared in the third week of March. Board Chairman R.R. Varsani spoke with all DEO's through video conference on 14th Tuesday and explained the procedure of the test.
