State revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat on Thursday, 17th May, 2012 said the revenue department will soon launch a website to issue domicile certificates needed during admissions for colleges and professional courses. Speaking at Meet the Press programme organised by the Pune Union of Working Journalists, Thorat said that people will be able to scan and send the required documents online to get a domicile certificate. The certificate will be issued after verification of the documents. The site is currently being developed and will be launched soon. Once the documents are scrutinised, applicants will have the option of taking the certificate online or getting it from the local revenue department office.
In case there are doubts about the documents submitted online, the applicant will be asked to contact the local revenue office to get the doubts cleared, after which the certificate will be issued. He also said that students born in the state and who have completed their std X here will not have to produce a domicile certificate. School leaving certificates mention the birth place, so if a student is born in the state and has completed his / her school education here, it is assumed that he / she has spent 15 years in the state. Thus, there is no need for him / her to procure a separate domicile certificate. Meanwhile, Thorat said that details of all properties in the state will be uploaded on another website soon. The details will include information about ownership, changes in ownership, if any, transactions, reservation on the property and details of heirs among other. All details of a property will be available at the click of a mouse. Thorat said the website is ready and will be formally launched soon. The website will be free during the trial run and, later, a nominal fee will be charged for online property details.
Chandrakant Dalvi, settlement commissioner of the state, who was present at the media interaction, said that the e-chawadi project started by the state government will be completed in the next three months. There are around 12,000 talathis (low rank revenue officials in villages) in the state. Around 6,000 talathis have been given laptops under the project and the rest will get them over the next three months, he said.School leaving certificates mention the birth place, so if a student is born in the state and has completed school education here, it is assumed that he / she has spent 15 years in the state. Thus, there is no need for him / her to procure a separate domicile certificate.
