Students of K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar, are once again preparing to show case their racing car in Germany this August. Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Since 2007, students of the college have been taking part in the prestigious international event. This year, students unveiled their most advanced modeltilldate, Orion 2012, on Tuesday, 3rd July. We have used cutting-edge technology.
The cars carbon-fibre body reduces its weight and makes it more effective at high speeds. It is able to clock 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds, Nigel Pinto, student at K. J. Somaiya, said. Orion 2012 has been tested at the Sion bus depot.We have been ready since March, said Pinto. Shubha Pandit, principal of the college, said, the team’s sustained effort has made the management feel responsible for providing them with basic amenities. I am confident that they will do a wonderful job.
Robotics event at IIT:
