Natasha Shah, 21, is leaving to pursue a master's degree at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), London, on Wednesday. The Malabar Hill resident is the first visually challenged student of the Xavier's Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged at St. Xavier's College to head abroad for a post-graduate degree.

New Vision by Andrews Vision Centre

Shah and 18 other visually challenged students from colleges across the city were felicitated by the Andrews Vision Centre (AVC) at Wilson College, Chowpatty, on Monday (5th Sept. 2011). Each student was given a 4 gigabyte voice recorder and a cash prize of Rs 500, for scoring high marks in their Class 10, Class 12 or final year college examinations.

"As a centre for the visually challenged, our objective is to provide students support in the form of financial aid and technology," said Ravi Thakur, coordinator of AVC.
