The drive has initiated at the time when there has been influx of freshers at varsity's four academic campuses i.e. Arts, Science, Commerce and Law. Although the freshers are arriving in all these campuses, authorities are extra vigilant in terms of Arts and Science faculties. On the arts campus, the proctorial team caught a group of students near the English and education departments. Similarly, some students were caught near the Sanskrit department who were not in possession of their identity cards.

"We have appealed to all new comers as well as senior students to carry I-cards on the campus. Those caught without the I-cards will be penalised," said AU chief proctor Prof Jata Shankar. The checking drive is also aimed at keeping a watch on outsiders, especially those who find an easy access in the science faculty, he added.

Meanwhile, the chief proctor has also given strict warning to all the students to park the bicycles and two-wheelers in the parking lots. He said two-wheelers parked at other places would be seized by the university, to be released only after paying heavy fine. The authorities also caught a student of Allahabad Degree College on the campus. He was however let off after a stern warning.
