As many as 80,700 ComedK aspirants will appear for the test on Sunday at 114 test centres across Karnataka. The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK) have recorded an increase of 18% in the number of candidates appearing this year compared to last time. Students will try their luck for getting into one of the 12 medical, 25 dental and 154 engineering colleges available in the state for undergraduate courses.

The examination will be taken up by 29,446 medical aspirants, 41,187 engineering aspirants and 10,059 will sit for both the streams. As far as the seat availability is concerned, there are 19,000 seats available for engineering course, 650 for medical and 730 for dental courses. The test centres will have block system seating arrangement that will consist of 24 candidates in each block. Candidates found indulging in malpractice or violating the examination rules will be debarred from taking this examination permanently in future and shall also be liable for criminal action.

PG COUNSELLING: The first round of medical seat selection process for PG courses will start on May 18 while for dental counselling on May 19.The second round will kick off on 28 and 29 respectively. The approximate number of seats is 280 for medical PG and 82 for medical diploma. Its 200 and 2 respectively for dental PG and diploma. There are 12 medical and 19 dental unaided private medical colleges in the state. In the entrance exam that was held on February 12, in all, 9,702 students (2,758 from Karnataka) took the medical entrance exam and 4,112 candidates (661 from Karnataka) have qualified to participate in the counselling.

The officials will ask for ID proof that was produced at the written exam centre and will also collect biometrics. In case of irregularities proved, ComedK will recommend to the Medical Council of India to withdraw/annul the registration certificate. To avoid blocking of seats, the student should file an affidavit that if he or she has taken any seat through RGUHS/ all- India /or any other entrance exam, he/she will surrender it and produce documents failing which the provisionally allotted seats will get cancelled.
