Agilent Technologies Inc., a measurement company and a technology leader in communications, electronics, life sciences and chemical analysis announced collaboration with PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore on Monday, 30th July, 2012 for the setting up of an Advanced Wireless Communications Lab at their campus. PSG has started a new postgraduate course in communications, focusing on Wireless Technologies. PSG reached out to seek the help of Agilent to set up this lab. Agilent made recommendations on the syllabus and lab infrastructure requirements of this new course to the ECE Department.
As part of its university relations program, it also financially supported PSG by picking up around 50% of the cost of the setup. Once operational, Agilent will also help the ECE Department connect with the Indian wireless ecosystem for research projects, as well as job placements for its students. This is the second time Agilent has been associated with PSG; previously Agilent helped establish complete Multipurpose Lab in 2008. "We are happy to work with Agilent who we consider as industry experts in the field of wireless communications," said Dr. S Subha Rani, HOD, ECE department at PSG. "This is a prestigious lab for PSG which involves high investment. We are thankful to Agilent to have funded 50% towards the cost of setting up this lab," said Dr. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG. "We are more than a test equipment vendor," says Arun Dogra, vice president and country manager for Agilent EMG operation, India. "Our technical experts who provide domain expertise on cutting-edge technologies provide value to leading OEM companies involved in product development. PSG can definitely leverage this knowledge coupled with our high technology products in not only enhancing the faculty, but also offer unique value in PG / Ph.D programs which will differentiate them from other institutes." The lab called as the “PSG-Agilent Advanced Communications Lab", will be formally inaugurated in February 2013.
