If you are holding on to two engineering seats through different competitive exams, you will have to let go of one.
This appeal from the Karnataka Examination Authority comes after they identified 61 candidates who have held on to two seats one in NIT Suratkal and the other through the Common Entrance Test (CET). Holding two seats is not in the public interest and would deprive other eligible candidates of an opportunity. The candidates have to choose either of the two seats, said a KEA circular. This is considering the fact that the casual vacancy round for medical counseling will kick off on August 5. KEA had earlier written to NIT Suratkal for the list of students who have opted for seats. According to their reply, 340 students have been allotted engineering seats in NIT under the Karnataka quota and have taken admission tentatively between July 18 and 29.Of this, 85 have got medical/engineering seats through KEA and only 24 have surrendered them. The seat surrender counter is open in KEA and counselling centres from 8.30am to 7.30pm.
