The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has extended the reporting date for students to engineering colleges from August 1 to August 25, following requests from candidates.
The KEA, in a new set of guidelines, has also advised candidates to surrender seats as soon as they join a course or college of their choice other than CET. The candidates have also been advised to surrender their seats either before the casual vacancy round, or after it. Candidates have been strictly warned to not indulge in seat blocking or surrender seats after the casual vacancy round. "You will be denying an equally meritorious student an opportunity for a medical/engineering seat in government quota at highly subsidised government fees," says a notice. Candidates surrendering their seats before their turn in the casual vacancy round will have to forfeit 50 per cent of the fees paid, while those cancelling their seat after their turn will get no refund. They will have to produce the original admission order, original bank challan, green card, and an application willing to surrender the seat. Counselling for engineering and architecture courses is scheduled to conclude on August 3, while the casual vacancy round is scheduled to begin on October 12.
