Two teams from the city’s premier institutes walked away with top honours in an international marketing competition involving 1,400 student teams from 76 countries.
A global marketing competition conducted by ESIC Business & Marketing School in Spain was held between July 16 and July 21. A team from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) bagged the first prize while another team from Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) won the fifth prize from a list of six winners. In the competition, the participants had to take strategic decisions in all areas of an organization and apply the theoretical knowledge they learned in their classrooms. The students had to start an automobile company from scratch and manage it in an online simulation.
The IIM-A team members Parampreet Singh Bhasin, Varsha Verma and Parimal Lokhande, won 12,000 Euros and an open offer to enroll them in a master’s programme at ESIC.
Lokhande said, there were many top business schools from across the globe including many IIMs in India. However from among all the IIMs, IIM-A was the only one to be selected for the finals in Spain. The competition gave us a very realistic experience of managing a large scale business.
The MICA team three second year students at MICA, Vikesh Jain, Satyaprem Upadhyay and Abhishek Iyer won 1,000 Euros, and a 50 per cent scholarship offer to enroll in a course at ESIC.
