In the academic year 2011-12, the directorate of technical education is getting very small increase in the number of engineering seats.
The test is going to take place on May 12, as per the notice issued by the state government. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) is the competent authority for the test and it will be in charge for ensuing pharmacy seats.
S. K. Mahajan, director technical education said, that last year the total number of seats available for the students for engineering colleges was 1.12 lakh and for pharmacy it was over 35,500. We expect not more than 10 to 15 per cent increase in the intake for the coming year.
Further Mahajan said, the AICTE has moreover extended the process for online submission of proposals for new colleges and courses. This process had begun on December 30 and was expected to end on February 28. The DTE issued a letter on March 1 to all the principals of all private engineering and pharmacy colleges to participate in the MHT-CET 2011.
The undertakings have to reach the concerned DTE joint director’s office by March 25. The DTE is expected to come out with detailed rules and regulations for the CAP towards the end of March.
