Akash Kamthan, a DAIICT student whose documentary film Dekha
Andekhi: Kal aur Kala was shortlisted for the 8th JEEVIKA: Asia Livelihood Documentary
Festival has won the best student documentary award at the film festival recently
held in Delhi.
A second year student of Master in Design - Communication at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute
of Information and Communication Technology (DAIICT), Akash produced the 25-minute
documentary under the guidance of Professor Madhumita Mazumdar.
The documentary was about Sanganer block printing which is associated with the Chhipa
community. Not just a means of livelihood, the art has provided them with a distinct
identity.
