low gross enrolment ration (GER).
Higher education minister of Uttar Pradesh Rakesh Dhar Tripathi
on Sunday instructed the higher education officials to ensure that remaining construction
work of the Government Degree College should be complete by October end.
Talking about Government Degree College in Kashiram Nagar, Tripathi announced that
the college will be renamed as Manyawar Kanshiram Government College. During a review
meeting, Tripathi directed the officials to pay heed to the grant of Rs 21 crore
to be given by Central government for development of Government colleges in districts
that have low gross enrolment ration (GER).
In this regard, director and regional higher education officer (RHO) has been given
the responsibility to bring the grant. Tripathi also announced that the ongoing
BEd counselling has been extended till August 9 and directed Rohilkhand University
to make arrangements for it.
Expressing concern on the quality of higher education, he strongly asked
all institutions to undergo National Assessment and Accreditation Council's (NAAC)
grading. "It will help institutions know here they stand today in terms of imparting
education," Tripathi said.
