ATMA Preparation Tips 2012

AIMS Test for Management Admission (ATMA) is a MBA entrance exam. The test is run by the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), which is a network of about 400 management schools in the country. ATMA has nothing to do with the admission process of the different management schools, which accept its scores. Student who take ATMA 2012 do not automatically get considered for admission by the management schools that accept ATMA scores for their admission unless they apply to them directly.

ATMA entrance exam consists of 170 objective type questions and consisting 6 sections. Total time of the test is 3 hour. There is a separate time limit for each. The fixed time for each section is 30 minutes. The questions cover Analytical Reasoning Skills, Quantitative Skill and Verbal Skills. The questions are followed by 4 answers.
The analytical section will get questions from data sufficiency, statement implication, cause effect, analogies. Questions are also asked from areas like odd man out, coding and decoding etc. Work on lot of puzzles, quizzes to improve your analytical and reasoning skills. The candidate will find more comprehension question in the verbal section. This is the most concerning section where they have to be more emphasize. The candidate should read magazines and newspapers. It improves their English vocabulary. Moreover, candidate should watch English news channels. The quantitative Skills section consists of basic mathematics questions and they can solve this problem easily. They can refer 10th and 12th standard maths book and they can get the study material from coaching institutes.

ATMA 2012 Preparation Tips:

  • Speed: Is very important factor for paper solving, if students speed is good then they can solve all the questions hence students must maintain the speed in exam time. Students must do the practice on speed. Try to solve previous years question papers, candidates can get the idea about time management.
  • Concentration: Most of candidates do not sitting two hours continuously at a stretch, Concentration is very important in exam. Hence try to solve Comprehensive test, it will makes you to sit for two hours at a stretch and you can increase your attentive span.
  • Time Management: The most important value provided by the comprehensive test is an idea of our strengths and weakness. So you should manage time and allocate certain time to each section depending on your strength and weakness.
  • Accuracy: Accuracy is the number of correct questions out of attempted questions. If this is low you need to go and revise the chapters which are reducing your accuracy because marking wrong option will impose negative marks in ATMA.
  • Finding Traps: You should avoid false positives or false negatives i.e. you shouldn’t leave easy questions thinking they are hard and attempt hard questions thinking they are easy. analysing your progress on the above four compare with the previous attempted paper on above all points.
