The admission process has been postponed as students whose average score in their
BE final examination are less than 50 percent are not eligible for MBA and MCA courses
Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has postponed the
dates for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer
Applications (MCA) courses. The admission process for these courses which
were scheduled to begin from July 8 has been postponed to July 18. The process has
been postponed as the results of examinations for the Bachelor of Engineering (BE)
students conducted last year in various universities in the state has not been declared
yet.
The eligibility for admission to
MBA course and MCA course are based on the marks scored by students in the
GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test) examination. However, the admission process
has been postponed as students whose average score in their BE final examination
are less than 50 percent are not eligible for MBA and MCA courses. An official at
GTU said, if it turns out that any student has failed or scored less than 50 percent
in their engineering examinations, then their admissions will have to be cancelled.
It will be a long process and create chaos. So the best idea was to postpone the
admissions till the BE results are declared. The BE results are expected to be declared
in around a week.
The admissions to MBA and MCA was postponed twice last year as well due to similar
delay in declaration of BE results.
