ACPC has no less than Rs 6 crore in its coffers at this juncture.
The admission committee for professional courses (ACPC) has
no less than Rs 6 crore in its coffers at this juncture. This sum is the total fees
collected from students who have got admission in engineering and pharmacy courses.
Earlier, the fees used to be with individual colleges. But, after complaints filed
by students and guardians over difficulty in getting refund when they changed colleges
or courses, ACPC was given the custody of the fee-money, said the committee sources.
Now, as the students get enrolled in various colleges linked to the Gujarat Technological
University, the money will be released in phases. More than 8, 000 students have
either cancelled their admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses or shifted
to different colleges. For these students the fees will be returned to them through
cheques sent directly to their homes by ACPC, said state education department officials.
