Acting is the work of an actor or
actress, which is a person in theatre, television, film, or any other storytelling
medium who tells the story by portraying a character and, usually, speaking or singing
the written text or play. Model from Middle French model sometimes called a mannequin,
is a person who is employed for the purpose of displaying and promoting fashion
clothing or other products and for advertising or promotional purposes or who poses
for works of art.
Eligibility:
In India Acting and Modelling Course has different
eligibility according to type of course you are pursing. Fashion Modelling courses
vary from 6 months to 3 year. There is no specific qualification or age limit to
enter into this field. First step for making an entry is to prepare a portfolio.
This consists of a series of photographs taken by a professional photographer. The
portfolio can then be shown to an advertising agency, a model co-ordinating agency
providing suitable models according to requirements, or a fashion designer. Another
way to enter into media course is to apply for the contests sponsored by magazines,
cloth manufactures, cosmetic companies etc and participating in beauty pageants.

Acting:
The recent boom of satellite channels in India has provided ample opportunities
for actors to perform in mega serials, Telefilms, countdown shows, reality shows
and game shows. Nowadays actors also taking on the role of anchors and organizing
chat shows and issue based programs on television. However, the tinsel town of Bollywood
is the ultimate dream destination for a budding actor in India as a stroke of good
luck and one or two box office hits can propel him to the zenith of fame, glory,
glamour and stardom.
For those who are more interested to perform on stage rather than on the celluloid
screen, the National School of Drama can be the ideal place for training. Candidates
can join renowned repertory companies after the completion of the course.

Modelling:
There is no dearth of jobs in Modelling these days. Job prospects are available to
models.

Modelling can be mainly classified into Television Modelling, Print Modelling/Still
Modelling, Ramp Modelling/live Modelling, Show room Modelling, Advertising Modelling
etc.
1. Television Modeling: This involves Modelling
before the Movie camera, to be used for Television commercials, cinema, video, internet
etc. Modelling for video or films often includes some acting or dance and is mostly
conducted on location. To make a successful television model you need a flair for
acting.
2. Print Modeling: Models generally pose for still
photographs, to be utilized in the press advertisements, brochures, magazines, catalogues,
calendars etc. Models for print media have to work along with ad agencies and photographers.
3. Show room Modeling: As per the name it takes
place in the showrooms. Models work generally for the exporters, garment manufacturers
and the big garment retailers to display the latest trends of fashion to the buyers.
4. Ramp or catwalk Modeling/ Live Modeling: Requires
models to display the garments and accessories in front of a live audience. This
can be at an exhibition or a fashion show, or at a showroom or point of purchase.
Ramp Modelling, thus, requires long hours of practice. Performing in a live show
before an audience can be very stressful. It requires tremendous confidence and
poise. Ramp models should have a good posture, walking style and body language.
5. Advertising Modeling: This is the one where
both print & electronic media has equal importance. It is in order to promote or
popularise a product. Advertising models appear in press advertisements, on posters,
in TV commercials and advertising films. Advertising Modelling is open to models
of all age groups. Basic acting skills and a photogenic face are must.
Scope of Acting and Modelling Course:
Modelling today has become one of the most sought after career options for youngsters
in India. This is one of the most thrilling as well as lucrative profession, it

the field. With the expansion of consumerism and media there has been a fabulous

who the organizer's are. Female models typically earn more than male models for
similar work. An established model who is consistently on the popularity charts
earns anything between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 50,000 per fashion Show. Low budget shows
pay models somewhere around Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000. Print ads pay according to
the number of photographs used. Magazine spreads and billboard advertisements also
pay well - reputed magazines paying around Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 per photograph.
Actors are paid very well in the Indian film Industry. An actress can charge up
to 3 to 4 Crores per film and an actor can charge up to Rs. 20 crores per film depending
on their popularity.
