Symbiosis Open Education Society notification about Junior college
Symbiosis Open Education Society has received permission from the State Human Resource department to start a vocational Junior college on its Model Colony campus.
Swati Mujumdar, Principal Director of Symbiosis Open Education Society said, “We have taken steps to start a vocational college, so that more students are groomed with vocational skills to enter industry, who already have hands-on experience.”
According to Mujumdar, there is a major demand for skilled manpower in industry.
“The college will provide vocational education at 10+2 level and offer courses in Commerce and Computers. The teaching will be practice-oriented, in line with industry requirement, and focus on making the student employment ready,” she added.
The courses offered in this academic year are Computer Techniques, Banking; Office Management; Accounting and Auditing, Marketing and Salesmanship and Purchasing and Store keeping.
This year, the Government has granted permission for 25 seats per course to Symbiosis, the fees for which would be Rs10, 000 for Computer and Information Technology courses and Rs. 6,000 for other courses.
Admissions would be carried out through the centralised standard XI admission procedure. The courses will begin in July after the admission procedure in June.
