All India Pre-Medical Test(AIPMT)

Introduction

What is it?

All India Pre -Medical / Pre -Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).You had before B.H.U., AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMC & various state PMT 's but PMT has a National appeal, as this entrance examination is conducted exclusively for the 15% Merit Positions for the Medical / Dental colleges of India, as specified in the directive of the Supreme Court.

Colleges you can apply for :

The admission for 15% of the total seats for medical/dental bachelor degree courses in Medical colleges run by Union of India, State Government, Municipal and Other Local Authorities in India except the state of Jammu & Kashmir is made on the basis of AIPMT merit list.

Who can appear :

• He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./DENTAL Course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.
• The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical /Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination.
  Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Schedule Tribes/Other Backward Classes.
• The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates
• The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination.
• In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates.
• Those who are taking plus two examinations in current year can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.

Exam Pattern

• Preliminary Examination : The Preliminary Examination would consist of one paper containing 200 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours.
• The Final Examination would consist of one paper containing 120 objective type questions(four options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. The duration of paper would be 3 hours.
• Language Of The Question Papers : Candidates can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling in the Application Form. It cannot be changed late.

CHANDIGARH : Raining more good results on city, the CBSE Pre -Medical Test (AIPMT) catapulted Abhinav Dingra to an all-India ranking of five and placed two others among the top 50. Paving their way to top-notch medical schools, results of the main examination declared on Friday also sprang unbound happiness for three aspirants ranked within the first 100.

With a score of 159 out of 200, Abhinav was on cloud nine, stealing a march on last year’s city topper who was ranked 51st in the country. ‘’I was expecting a position among top 20 but certainly not the fifth rank,’’ said the ecstatic achiever.

A firm believer in self-study, he added, ‘’I just paid attention to what was being taught at the coaching centre and then did a thorough revision of material provided by it.’’

Always a winner at school, Abhinav passed his class XII from Delhi but trained for the medical test here. ‘’He has always been consistent,’’ said his father Mukesh Kumar Dingra, uttering another success mantra.

Like him, Abhenil Mittal of Bal Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-37, too, wanted to join the prestigious All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. Having bagged the 11th rank, Abhenil said, ‘’I used to study around seven hours daily apart from four hours at the coaching institute.’’ Groomed by doctor parents who ran a nursing home in Ambala, he added, ‘’I have been practising meditation for seven years now and that has also helped me achieve my dream.’’

This avid lover of Sidney Sheldon and cricket was followed by Shivani Garg at number 40. A resident of Bathinda who took coaching in Chandigarh, Shivani credited her teachers for being where she was today. ‘’To crack any competitive exam is not difficult, provided you have a goal,’’ said the girl, whose heart was set on Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi.

Last but not the least, Saniya Gupta at 56, Rinnic Brar with 68th rank, and Mallika Goel who stood 93rd in the country were the other city stars burning bright.
