The companies are picking more students than before from IIT.
Within four days of campus placements starting at the Indian
Institute of Technology-Bombay, close to 400 students have already been offered
jobs.
And maximum students from the campus have been picked by Facebook, the highest pay-master
so far this placement season. Most of the students are those who have pursued their
dual degree at the Powai campus.
A note from the institute stated that 53% of the dual degree students, 40% B.Tech
graduates and 26% M.Tech students have already been placed. Officials at IIT-B said
the annual recruitment exercise had never been better and the best corporations
came to campus during the initial days of the placement drive. Last year, at the
end of Day 4, about 350 students had got their jobs.
The Powai campus, like other institutes, predicted a stormy placement season and
packed more companies every day than what they did in the previous years. But there
has been more that just that, which has boosted recruitment numbers. "We have noticed
that companies are picking more students than before," said Ravi Sinha, placement
head at IIT Bombay, but he added that it was difficult for him to give specific
numbers of how many students have been offered jobs by each company. "Some companies
take one students, while others have recruited many," he added. Sinha said the placement
process would continue till the middle of next year.
